استقبل سماحة السيد الحكيم، رئيس تحالف قوى الدولة، ببغداد، الكابتن يونس محمود رئيس الاتحاد العراقي لكرة القدم، مؤكدًا أهمية هذه الرياضة ودورها في رفع راية العراق في المحافل الدولية، داعيًا إلى الاهتمام بالفئات العمرية والمنتخبات الخاصة بها لأنها نواة المنتخبات في المرحلة القادمة.
وشدد السيد الحكيم على الارتقاء بالدوري العراقي، والاهتمام بالبنى التحتية، وإيجاد منافذ وطرق لتمويل الأندية والمنتخبات بعيدًا عن الدولة التي تعيش شُحًّا ماليًا بسبب الأحداث الدائرة وتراجع صادرات النفط، مشددًا على ضرورة أن يحظى المنتخب باهتمام بالغ في الاستحقاقين القادمين: كأس الخليج وكأس آسيا.
فيما شدد سماحته على تكاملية الأداء بين الاتحاد واللجنة الأولمبية و وزارة الشباب، مع أهمية رعاية المواهب واكتشافها، والارتقاء بواقع الطب الرياضي، والاستفادة من الخبرات الدولية في إقامة مراكز علاجية بمواصفات عالمية.
His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, received Captain Yunis Mahmoud, Chairman of the Iraqi Football Association, in Baghdad, affirming the importance of this sport and its role in raising Iraq’s flag in international forums, and calling for attention to the youth age categories and their respective national teams, as they represent the nucleus of the national teams in the coming phase.
H.E. stressed the need to elevate the Iraqi league, attend to infrastructure, and find outlets and means to fund clubs and national teams independent of the state, which is experiencing financial scarcity due to the ongoing events and declining oil exports, emphasizing that the national team must receive utmost attention in the two upcoming tournaments: the Gulf Cup and the Asian Cup.
H.E. also stressed the complementarity of performance among the Football Association, the Olympic Committee, and the Ministry of Youth, along with the importance of nurturing and discovering talent, advancing the state of sports medicine, and drawing on international expertise to establish treatment centers with world-class standards.
