استقبل سماحة السيد الحكيم، رئيس تحالف قوى الدولة الوطنية، سعادة السفير غلين مايلز سفير أستراليا لدى بغداد، وبحث معه العلاقات الثنائية بين البلدين والشعبين الصديقين.
وبيّن السيد الحكيم طبيعة التحديات المحدقة بالعراق، مبيّناً أن العراق تجاوز تحديات سياسية واجتماعية، ويواجه تحدياً كبيراً في المجال الاقتصادي نتيجة أحداث المنطقة وتراجع الصادرات، مؤكداً أن العراق يمتلك الكثير من الموارد الاقتصادية، فيما يعاني أزمة سيولة مالية، وسيتمكن من تجاوزها كما تجاوز التحديات السابقة.
وعن العلاقات الثنائية بين البلدين، أكد سماحته أهمية دولة بحجم أستراليا بالنسبة للعراق، داعياً إلى تبادل الخبرات والتجارب في مجال الزراعة وتقنيات الري.
وعن أحداث المنطقة، دعا سماحته إلى إيقاف التصعيد في المنطقة، مبيّناً أن التهدئة ضرورية لاستقرار المنطقة والعالم، ومحمّلاً دول العالم، وخاصة المؤثرة منها، مسؤولية التهدئة واستعادة الاستقرار.
His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers' Alliance, received H.E. the Ambassador Glenn Miles, Ambassador of Australia to Baghdad, and discussed with him bilateral relations between the two countries and the two friendly peoples.
Sayyid Al-Hakeem outlined the nature of the challenges facing Iraq, noting that Iraq has overcome political and social challenges, and is facing a major challenge in the economic domain as a result of regional events and declining exports, affirming that Iraq possesses abundant economic resources, while suffering from a financial liquidity crisis, and will be able to overcome it as it has overcome previous challenges.
On bilateral relations between the two countries, H.E. affirmed the importance of a country the size of Australia for Iraq, calling for the exchange of expertise and experience in the fields of agriculture and irrigation techniques.
On regional events, H.E. called for an end to escalation in the region, noting that de-escalation is necessary for the stability of the region and the world, and placing on the countries of the world, particularly the influential ones, the responsibility for de-escalation and restoring stability.
