استقبلنا صباح اليوم سعادة السيد مارك إينيس براون، المبعوث الأسترالي لشؤون الشرق الأوسط، وتبادلنا وجهات النظر حول المشهد السياسي في العراق والمنطقة، والعلاقات الثنائية بين العراق وأستراليا. أوضحنا أن أستراليا أسهمت في دعم العراق خلال محطات مهمة، منها مواجهة الدكتاتورية والتصدي للإرهاب.  أكدنا أن الواقع العراقي يشهد تحسناً ملحوظاً ومتزايداً، حيث يتمتع العراق باستقرار أمني وسياسي واجتماعي، إلى جانب حركة تنموية في عموم البلاد، وأشرنا إلى أن العراق، في الوقت الحالي، يمثل ورشة عمل كبرى تسعى إلى تغيير الواقع الخدمي والتنموي واستقطاب الاستثمارات.كما دعونا الشركات الأسترالية إلى المساهمة في إعمار العراق والاستفادة من الفرص التي يوفرها هذا المجال، مؤكدين أهمية التعاون لتطوير القطاع الزراعي.بيّنا أيضاً أن العراق منفتح على الجميع بما يحقق المصالح المشتركة ويحفظ سيادته، مشيرين إلى أن هذا النهج منح العراق قبولاً وأدواراً إقليمية ودولية، وأسهم في تعزيز انفتاح الدول عليه، واستشهدنا باجتماع القمة العربية في بغداد وما تمخض عنه من حضور ونتائج إيجابية.وفي ما يخص الانتخابات القادمة، أوضحنا محوريّتها وأهميتها في تعزيز الاستقرار والانتقال به إلى مرحلة مستدامة، كما أشرنا إلى أن العراق يمتلك تجربة ديمقراطية رائدة، بالنظر إلى المحطات التي احتكم فيها إلى صندوق الاقتراع وإرادة الناخبين.أكدنا أيضاً ضرورة تنفيذ المعالجات الاقتصادية عبر تنويع مصادر الدخل ومغادرة نمط الدولة الريعية، مشددين على أهمية تفعيل القطاعات الإنتاجية، مثل الزراعة والصناعة والسياحة والاستثمار والتكنولوجيا الحديثة.
This morning, we welcomed His Excellency Mr. Marc Innes-Brown, the Australian Special Envoy for Middle East Affairs, where we exchanged perspectives on the political developments in Iraq and the region, as well as the state of bilateral relations between Iraq and Australia. We acknowledged Australia’s support to Iraq at critical junctures, particularly in confronting dictatorship and fighting terrorism.We emphasized that Iraq is experiencing steady and noticeable progress, marked by political, security, and social stability, alongside ongoing development efforts across its provinces. We highlighted that Iraq today is effectively a vast worksite focused on improving services, driving development, and attracting investment opportunities.We encouraged Australian companies to participate in Iraq’s reconstruction and take advantage of the promising prospects in this space, while underscoring the importance of collaboration in advancing the agricultural sector.We further stressed that Iraq’s openness to all partners serves shared interests while firmly preserving its sovereignty. We noted that this balanced approach has earned Iraq growing regional and international recognition, expanded its diplomatic and strategic roles, and strengthened its global connections — as reflected in the recent Arab Summit hosted in Baghdad and its positive outcomes.On the topic of the upcoming elections, we underlined their crucial role in solidifying stability and paving the way for a sustainable future. We also reaffirmed that Iraq holds a leading democratic track record, evident in its consistent reliance on elections and the voice of its electorate.Finally, we emphasized the urgent need for economic reform through income diversification, urging a departure from the rentier-state model. We stressed the importance of invigorating key productive sectors, including agriculture, industry, tourism, investment, and modern technology.
