تطورات المشهد السياسي في العراق والمنطقة، والعدوان الإسرائيلي على الجمهورية الإسلامية الإيرانية، والعلاقات الثنائية بين العراق وأستراليا، كانت من أبرز الملفات التي تبادلنا وجهات النظر بشأنها خلال لقائنا صباح اليوم سفير أستراليا لدى العراق، سعادة السيد غلين مايلز.
جدّدنا خلال اللقاء الدعوة إلى وقفٍ فوريّ للاعتداءات الإسرائيلية على إيران، مؤكدين أن على المجتمع الدولي أن يضطلع بدوره المفترض في الضغط على الكيان الإسرائيلي لوقف اعتداءاته المتكررة على دول المنطقة، وعلى الشعب الفلسطيني في غزة، كما حذرنا من مخاطر تمدد هذا الصراع ليشمل المنطقة والعالم، وتهديده لمصالح الجميع، مشددين على أهمية العودة إلى المسارات الدولية ومؤسساتها القانونية والشرعية.
أشرنا كذلك إلى حالة الاستقرار التي يشهدها العراق اليوم، وضرورة تعزيزها وتثبيتها، مع التأكيد على أهمية الانتخابات المقبلة ودورها في ترسيخ الاستقرار وتحقيق التنمية الشاملة في البلاد.
أما في ما يخص العلاقات الثنائية، فقد أكدنا أهمية تطوير التعاون بين العراق وأستراليا، لا سيما في مجالات الزراعة وإدارة المياه، والاستفادة من التجارب الأسترالية المتقدمة في هذا الإطار.In our meeting this morning with His Excellency Mr. Glenn Miles, the Australian Ambassador to Iraq, we discussed several key issues, including the evolving political landscape in Iraq and the region, the israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the state of bilateral relations between Iraq and Australia.
We renewed our call for an immediate end to the israeli assaults on Iran, stressing the need for the international community to fulfill its responsibility by pressuring the israeli entity to cease its repeated acts of aggression against countries in the region and the Palestinian people in Gaza. We also warned of the serious risks of the conflict expanding further, potentially destabilizing the broader region and the world, and threatening collective interests. In this context, we emphasized the importance of returning to international legal and legitimate mechanisms and  institutions.
We also highlighted the current state of stability in Iraq, underscoring the importance of preserving and reinforcing it. We also reiterated the significance of the upcoming elections and their potential to promote sustained stability and drive comprehensive development across the country.
On the topic of bilateral relations, we affirmed the importance of enhancing cooperation between Iraq and Australia — particularly in the areas of agriculture and water resource management — and emphasized the value of drawing on Australia’s advanced experience and expertise in these field
